Complexities with music rights reporting

Wanted to share this really excellent analysis of the complexities in music rights reporting. Details why songwriters can often be paid six months to a YEAR after the music they wrote has been streamed on a service.

tl;dr is that the system is stupid complex, with numerous opportunities for data to be lost, mixed up, unmatched, etc. Shows also from the streaming provider side what we really need to be a robust service.

The Spotify royalties for band’s album that came out last fall are from January. Going on 6 months behind. Total nonsense.
