Generating playlists and editing them

As a listener, I want to be able to generate, edit, and save a playlist with a specific length, with the tracks determined by various inputs I select:

  • random tracks from a genre tag or multiple genre tags
  • random tracks from an artist or multiple artists
  • random tracks from an album or multiple albums
  • random tracks from a label or multiple labels
  • random tracks from a playlist or multiple playlists

While listening to a playlist I’ve generated, I want to be able to edit the playlist to remove:

  • a track
  • all tracks by a specific artist
  • all tracks from a specific album
  • all tracks from a specific label
  • all tracks from a specific genre tag

As a listener, I want to have influence over whether or not a particular track is going to appear in a generated playlist, based upon various factors such as:

  • whether I have favorited a track
  • whether I have favorited/follow an artist
  • whether I have favorited/follow a label
  • whether I have favorited/follow a playlist
  • whether I have favorited/follow a listener

I came to Resonate to do somthing like this as a side project, here’s my post.

For it to truly do what I want, listeners would have to be allowed to tag tracks - there’s a big difference for some people in between a track with #ambient #electronic tags --which are generic enough that an admin would probably add those – and #ambient #electronic #nosaxophones - only people who want a saxophone-free experience / share their playlists with fellow sax-haters would invest the time in tagging tracks as #nosaxaphone.
